HALIFAX (September 19, 2023) – Celebrating 39 years of support for Atlantic Canada’s largest children’s hospital, CTV Atlantic delivers the rescheduled IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN on Saturday, Sept. 23, beginning at 10 a.m. AT on CTV,, and the CTV app. The IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN was postponed from its original airdate amid the challenging circumstances faced by the Atlantic region in the wake of the wildfires in June 2023. This year’s IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN broadcast is dedicated to the families of those who have received care at IWK Health. CTV Atlantic features stories of patients and families who have received specialized care at the facility. The special also features donors from across the region who continue to support the Health Centre year after year. The IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN is the IWK’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting the organization’s most urgent priority needs, including up-to-date equipment, advanced technology, research, and improved facilities. “No one envisions their child facing a serious health challenge, yet so many Maritime families find themselves on a path that includes specialized care at the IWK. It is their strength and resilience that we are honouring this year,” says Jennifer Gillivan, President and CEO, IWK Foundation. “I’m so proud to be part of this community, which was so understanding when we decided to postpone the Telethon in June. They care so much, and I know that together with our amazing donors who fundraise all year long, they are going to make an important difference for these families.” “This year’s Telethon is dedicated to the families of patients who have spent countless hours at the IWK,” said Trent McGrath, General Manager, CTV Atlantic. “We are honoured to celebrate their incredible strength and grace while raising money to ensure the care for these families is the best it can be.” Viewers will see many familiar faces from CTV Atlantic on the 2023 IWK TELETHON FOR CHILDREN, including CTV NEWS AT SIX Chief Anchor Todd Battis; CTV NEWS AT FIVE co-hosts Jayson Baxter and Maria Panopalis; and CTV NEWS AT FIVE entertainment reporter Katie Kelly. Long-time telethon host and CTV Atlantic special correspondent Steve Murphy returns in a special role. Donations can be made by phone at 1-800-595-2266 or online at
